How it works

A real person there while the homework is actually happening.

Your student logs on with a Homework Monitor, figures out what needs to be done, and has another person there to help them keep moving through it.

01

Log on

Your student joins the scheduled online session with the homework, school platforms, and materials they already use.

02

Figure out what is due

They look at what needs to be finished, what matters most, and how much time they have.

03

Start the first thing

The Monitor helps turn “I don’t know where to start” into one clear next step.

04

Stay with the work

If attention drifts or the student gets stuck, the Monitor helps them return to the assignment and keep going.

05

Move to what is next

When one task is finished, they check the list instead of letting the rest of the evening disappear.

06

Wrap up clearly

They finish with a clear picture of what got done and what, if anything, still needs attention.

What this is

Support with doing the homework—not someone doing it for them.

A Homework Monitor can prompt, help organize, ask questions, provide reasonable assistance, and help a student keep working through ordinary stuck points.

The student still does the work. The Monitor helps make it more likely that the work gets started, stays moving, and gets finished.

Sometimes a tutor is the better answer.

If the student needs specialized instruction in algebra, reading, a language, test preparation, or another subject, we would rather say that clearly than pretend one person can be an expert in everything.

Why online works here

The support can be present without taking over the room.

  • No drive to another appointment
  • The student works with the assignments and devices they already use
  • Parents can step out of the constant-reminder role
  • The Monitor can stay focused on momentum, organization, and follow-through
